Mission, vision & values
What we are for, and the five values that govern how we work.
About USAW
USAW was formed because women carry a disproportionate share of environmental harm and hold a disproportionately small share of the decisions about it. Everything below follows from that.
Our story
Resource scarcities are accelerating globally, and their burden falls disproportionately on women - particularly in low- and moderate-income communities, where women manage household water, food and energy needs directly.
At the same time, women remain structurally underrepresented in the institutions, boards and policy forums where environmental decisions are made. Not for want of capability, but for want of access to education, capital, networks and platforms.
USAW exists to close that gap directly, rather than treat women as passive beneficiaries of interventions designed by others. We began with a focus on environmental education and have deliberately expanded into a ten-pillar programme portfolio, positioning USAW as an internationally competitive sustainability actor rather than a single-issue awareness campaign.

Work with us
USAW is in Phase 1 of its implementation strategy. That is the point at which institutional partners, academic collaborators and community organizations shape what gets built.
