Cookie policy

This site is built to work without tracking you. Most visitors will never be asked about cookies, because for most visitors we do not set any.

Last updated August 2026

The short version

This is a static website. It does not require you to log in, and it does not build a profile of you. Our baseline analytics are cookieless: they count page views in aggregate and do not set a cookie, do not use a device identifier, and cannot follow you to other sites.

What is set, and when

Strictly necessary

Storage needed for the site to function or to remember a choice you made, such as your cookie preference itself. These do not require consent.

Analytics

Aggregate, cookieless measurement of which pages are used. No cookie is set and no individual is identified, so no consent is required for it.

Additional analytics and advertising measurement

USAW may in future use Google Analytics 4 alongside the cookieless baseline, because conversion tracking is a condition of the Google Ad Grants programme that funds search advertising for nonprofits. Where used, it loads only after you opt in. It is not loaded for visitors who have not consented, and it is off by default.

Your choices

If any non-essential technology is in use, you will be asked before it loads, with declining presented as prominently as accepting. You can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Quebec are asked to opt in explicitly. Under Quebec's Law 25, tracking and profiling technologies are off by default.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so will not stop this site working.

Third-party services

Some pages include services operated by others - our form handler and our newsletter provider. Where such a service is embedded, it may set its own storage when you interact with it. We have chosen providers that do not require advertising cookies, and we self-host our fonts rather than loading them from a third party, so that visiting a page does not send your IP address to another company.
