Timing

Why now is the useful moment

USAW is in Phase 1 of a three-phase implementation strategy. Eight of its ten programme pillars are still in design.

For a partner, that is the difference between joining a programme and shaping one. Phase 1 is when memoranda of understanding are established and initial interventions are piloted - which means partnership commitments made now determine which pillars move first. We prioritise pillars with existing partnership readiness, and we say so on our risk register.

Models

Four kinds of partnership

  • Institutional funders

UN agencies, bilateral development agencies and multilateral climate funds. USAW’s programming is designed against the frameworks these funders score to, including the UNFCCC Gender Action Plan and the Beijing Platform for Action.

    • Gender-responsive programme design
    • Disaggregated indicator reporting
    • Governance and policy documentation for due diligence
  • Corporate and ESG partners

Companies seeking measurable gender and environmental impact, with reporting that maps to recognised sustainability frameworks rather than a photograph and a thank-you.

    • Employee engagement through Community Chapters
    • Named programme sponsorship
    • Reporting aligned to your ESG disclosure
  • Academic and research partners

Universities and research institutes supporting the Research, Policy and Advocacy pillar. USAW’s evidence value is a stated core value, and independent research is how it is met.

    • Joint baseline and evaluation research
    • Student placements and fieldwork
    • Co-authorship and open publication
  • Community and government partners

Schools, local businesses, civic organizations and government agencies. USAW works with local institutions rather than around them - this is one of its five core values, not a preference.

    • Co-delivered programming
    • Memoranda of understanding
    • Alignment with national climate commitments
