Donor and supporter privacy

USAW does not sell, rent, trade or otherwise share donor or supporter personal data with any third party for their own marketing purposes. This commitment is unconditional and applies to every category of supporter - donors, members, volunteers, chapter participants and newsletter subscribers.

What we collect

• Information you give us. Your name, email address, location, organization and the content of any message when you use a form on this site or email us.
• Newsletter subscriptions. Your email address and any name you supply, held by our email provider.
• Analytics. Aggregate, non-identifying information about how pages are used. Our baseline analytics are cookieless and do not track individuals across sites.

We do not collect special-category data through this website, and we ask that you do not send sensitive personal information through the contact forms.

Why we use it, and on what basis

• To answer you. Where you contact us, we use your details to reply and to route your enquiry to the relevant committee. Our basis is your consent, or our legitimate interest in responding to an enquiry you initiated.
• To send you email you asked for. Newsletter and member communications are sent only with your consent, and every message carries a working unsubscribe link honoured promptly.
• To improve the site. Aggregate analytics, on the basis of legitimate interest, using a cookieless tool that does not identify you.

Cookies and tracking

Our baseline analytics do not set cookies and do not require consent. Where any non-essential cookie or tracking technology is used, it is loaded only after you opt in, and you can withdraw that consent at any time through the cookie settings link in the footer. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Quebec are asked to opt in before any such technology loads, with rejecting made as straightforward as accepting.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with service providers that operate this website and our communications on our instructions - our form handler, our email provider and our hosting provider - and only to the extent needed to deliver the service. We do not sell data. We may disclose information where we are legally required to.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Records we are required to retain for corporate, tax or audit purposes are kept under our document retention policy.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to withdraw consent, and to have it provided in a portable form. To exercise any of these, email info@usawomen.global.

• European Economic Area and United Kingdom (GDPR). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.
• Canada (PIPEDA) and Quebec (Law 25). You have rights of access and correction, and Quebec residents have additional rights concerning automated processing and profiling. Tracking technologies are off by default.
• Ghana (Data Protection Act 2012, Act 843). Where USAW processes personal data originating in Ghana, it does so in line with Act 843 and will register with the Data Protection Commission as required.
• United States. Residents of states with applicable privacy laws, including Colorado and Oregon, whose laws expressly cover nonprofit organizations, may exercise the rights those laws provide.

Email and anti-spam

We send marketing email only to people who have asked for it. Canadian recipients are covered by CASL: we hold express or documented implied consent, identify ourselves in every message, and honour unsubscribe requests within ten days.

International transfers

USAW operates in more than one country and uses service providers based in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside your country, we rely on appropriate safeguards under the applicable law.

Children

USAW's programming serves people aged 15 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 through this website. Where a participant is under 18, programme participation is subject to our safeguarding policy and, where required, parental or guardian consent.

Photographs and personal stories

We publish photographs and stories of programme participants only under a documented consent standard, and a participant may withdraw that consent at any time. We do not publish identifying imagery of a participant without it.

Changes and contact

We will update this policy as USAW's operations and registrations develop, and the date at the top will change. For any question about this policy, or to exercise a right, contact:
