Programme
Sustainable Agriculture & Food Security
Climate-smart agriculture, seed banking, urban gardening and nature-based solutions that hold food systems together as the climate shifts.
Programme status: In design
Food security is the point where climate, water and household economics meet, and it is the point where women already hold most of the practical knowledge. This pillar backs that knowledge with technique, seed stock and land.
What this programme does
- Climate-smart agriculture training
- Community seed banking and seed management
- Urban and community gardens
- Nature-based solutions for soil and watershed restoration
How we will measure it
USAW is pre-launch, so these indicators have no baseline yet. Baselines will be set during Phase 1 research and reported annually, disaggregated by sex and age.
- Women trained in climate-smart agricultural practice
- Community gardens and seed banks established and maintained
- Land area under restored or improved management
